Article: Fire company sounds alarm before vote <> Muskego decision today could end unit

Muskego -- After years of disputes between the city and the Muskego Volunteer Fire Company, the fire company will cease to exist after midnight Wednesday, if the Common Council adopts a resolution before it today.

"It's pretty sad," Fire Chief Andy Mack said.

The fire company intends to fight for its survival, Mack said before an emergency membership meeting Monday night.

If the Common Council adopts the resolution, it will end an arrangement unusual in the Milwaukee area in which the city contracts with two separate volunteer fire outfits to serve separate areas of the community.
