MILFORD -- City officials are hoping $25,000 will prevent the
phrase,"I can't hear you" from ever being uttered inside City Hall
Auditorium. Officials have described the current sound system as an
"embarrassment" and a "disgrace," because it routinely fails and the
public can't hear anyone. Even when the system works, it gives off a
loud screeching noise.
Mayor James L. Richetelli Jr. said the city is currently seeking
bids to replace the system that when it was installed in 1987 was
already 10 years old and used. The mayor said he believes a new
sound system will cost $25,000.
