Article: Mother of miss england is delighted that beauty queen tradition runs in the family

The mother of a Derby woman crowned the new Miss England says she is delighted that the family beauty queen tradition is now into its third generation.

Dena Coleman, whose daughter, Laura, scooped the momentous title last week, was a finalist in the Miss UK competition in 1975.

And her mother, Irene Patrick, also has a number of beauty titles, including Miss Army Pin-Up, to her name.

Laura has now carried on the family tradition and Mrs Coleman said she was speechless when her daughter was announced as the winner.

She said: "It was absolutely amazing when Laura won. I was, and still am, over the moon.

"My mother and I were beauty queens and it is amazing that Laura is as well.
