The decision by U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy to grant a
preliminary injunction that places the gray wolf back on the
endangered species list is a slap in the face to those in Wyoming
who put in hard work on this matter.
The injunction places on hold hunting seasons this fall in
Wyoming, Idaho and Montana that could help control the growth of the
estimated 2,000 wolves that now live in those states.
It will be up to Mr. Molloy to decide if the injunction should be
permanent. It shouldn't be.
Wyoming was the last of the three states to get its wolf
management strategy approved by the Bush administration. The plan is
built on a delicate balance between all stakeholders. Tinkering with
