Police have completed their investigation into last summer's fire at Penhallow Hotel in Newquay which claimed three lives.

Prosecutors will now have to decide whether anyone should be charged in connection with what as been described as one of the worst hotel blazes in Britain in 30 years.

Officers said yesterday that the file will now be handed over to the Crown Prosecution Service.

The blaze destroyed much of the evidence, making it a difficult case to investigate. However, prosecutors and investigating officers will meet next month to decide if charges are to be brought against four people who have been arrested in connection with the incident.
