Major Daniel Cheesman, 34, from Salisbury, was honoured for excelling both on and off the battlefield after 10 months in war- ravaged Helmand Province.

His MBE marked a second major achievement in just two days for 40 Commando, based at Norton Manor Camp in Taunton, whose current tour began last September.
