The wife of a young Army corporal killed in Afghanistan when the
ambulance he was driving hit a roadside explosive device has paid
tribute to her "loving husband".
Corporal Jason Barnes, from Exeter, had helped evacuate a
seriously injured soldier near Kajaki, northern Helmand, and was
driving the ambulance back to base when it hit the explosive on
Tuesday evening. He died almost instantly.
Yesterday, his wife Diana said: "He was a loving husband and
will be sadly missed." The couple had recently moved to Colchester,
Essex, where Cpl Barnes, 25, was based.
His parents, Steve and Beverley Barnes, who live in Exeter,
