Article: Elmbrook pastor's; book borrows themes from 'X-Files' TV show

Mel Lawrenz, a megachurch pastor who likes big mysteries, was happily dealing with what might or might not be a coincidence as fans of "The X-Files" television series were rushing Friday to see the much-awaited spinoff movie "I Want to Believe."

His latest book is titled "I Want to Believe: Finding Your Way in an Age of Many Faiths." He had no inkling when the book was released in January that his book's main title -- taken from an "X-Files" slogan -- was going to be the movie's title, too.

But his "X-Files" connection was intentional, he said, and his first chapter uses "The X-Files" as a launching pad to respond to the spate of books on atheism that have caught the public's eye.
