Mark Ronson and the Version Players

UNTIL 'Valerie' was played, Mark Ronson and his band - even by
his own successful standards - was having an average gig in Belfast.
But once the band kicked into the song that has been covered by
Amy Winehouse amongst others, the hall erupted into a frenzy with
beer-hungry fans deserting their place in the queue at the drinks
tent to rock along with a feel-good song.
Ronson, a frontman with the dubious distinction of not singing,
assembled a large band of musicians for the gig on a balmy night in
Belfast.
But everything appeared a bit too frenetic - a case of trying too
hard, where less may have sufficed.
