Article: Capital will practice at Cabell field: Cougar Coach Moe Townson quite familiar with West Side site

Moe Townson will be in familiar surroundings when high school football preseason practice opens Monday.

Of course, that's not always good. Just ask your average jailbird.

"It's going to hurt us, no doubt," said Capital High School's head coach. "It's so inconvenient. You're away from your stuff and training facilities."

Capital normally practices and plays its home games at Laidley Field. But workers are currently installing new artificial turf at Laidley.

That means the Cougars will open camp next week at Cabell Field on the West Side, a site with which Townson is plenty familiar as a former assistant and head coach at Stonewall Jackson High. Cabell served as the Generals' practice field.
