Yet even though the four-year restructuring program that sliced its work force by more than half, to 26,900, is now over, the company hasn't had sustained profitability.

It recently increased prices by as much as 20 percent on some film, paper and printing-plates products because of rising prices of raw materials such as silver, aluminum and petroleum.
