Proud Yorkshire folk are being urged to fly the county's new flag
on August 1.
The plea was made as Hull and the East Riding prepares for
Yorkshire Day, which is this Friday.
Featuring the Yorkshire white rose emblem on a blue background,
the new Yorkshire Flag was unfurled by Hull Lord Mayor Councillor
Elaine Garland.
The Yorkshire Flag was entered, at the request of the Yorkshire
Ridings Society, to become a registered flag with the UK Flag
Institute.
It means the flag has "exempt status" and can be flown without
special planning permission, being approved just like the Cross of
St George and Union Flag.
The flag also cannot be registered by any other body - helping to
protect its status ...
