The five miles of Harrisburg Pike from Prince Street in Lancaster
to State Road in East Hempfield Township comprise one of the most
heavily traveled stretches of road in the county.
Figuring out how to accommodate all that traffic is the goal of
the Harrisburg Pike Transportation and Land Use Study, unveiled
Wednesday at Liberty Place.
Every day an average of 28,000 cars pass along Harrisburg Pike,
according to study data. More than 50,000 people work in the shops,
offices, clinics and factories that line it. Red Rose transit buses
carry 600,000 riders a year along Harrisburg Pike, including some of
the 15 million shoppers who visit Park City Center.
