TO the average 'landlubber' the traditional image of the Royal
Navy has often been a curious mixture of heady romance and
relentless hardship.
Chances are if you were asked to explain what you think the Royal
Navy actually does, you'd be hard pushed to get beyond 'sailing
ships'.
The modern reality for the service is a lot more complex and
embraces the vagaries of world politics and power struggles.
Such is the need to keep the public up to date with just what
they do that the Navy has dedicated a team of its top professionals
to tour the country meeting the public.
