MONAGHAN will have the ultimate 'sixteenth man' when they
confront Kerry in round three of the All Ireland football qualifiers
at Croke Park on Sunday (4pm) - a tidal wave of goodwill sweeping
round them from the rest of the country.
When Seamus McEnaney's side lost by a solitary point to the
Kingdom in last year's All Ireland semi-final, the anguish and
disappointment within the Monaghan dressing-room was overpowering.
McEnaney himself said it was "one of the worst moments of my
life" and, despite his palpable emotion, vowed in a hushed Croke
Park corridor that his team would be back.
And they are. They will venture into Headquarters again on Sunday
buoyed by qualifier wins over Derry and ...
