Lancaster County transportation planners on Wednesday night
unveiled a $51.5 million plan to help unclog a major traffic artery.
The Harrisburg Pike Transportation & Land Use Study was presented
to about 50 people at Liberty Place, in Lancaster City. The plan,
with 19 recommendations to improve the flow of motor traffic and
people, was prepared by consultants KCI Technologies over nearly a
year.
The study area covers one of the most heavily trafficked areas of
the county: the five miles of Harrisburg Pike, from Prince Street in
Lancaster City to State Road in East Hempfield Township. It also
included the nearby intersection of State Road and Route 283 in East
Hempfield Township.
