THE memory of a nine-year-old Northern Ireland Beano fan, who
tragically lost his life to cancer in May, will today live on as his
selection of favourite jokes help children across the province to
raise money for children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent on Gnashional
Menace Day.
Philip Ireland, from east Belfast, was diagnosed with a brain
tumour in December 2007.
Despite undergoing traumatic and painful treatments, Philip
always had a smile on his face and kept hospital staff and patients
in fits of giggles with his jokes.
Now Philip's parents want their son's cheerful sense of humour to
be remembered. So Sally and Bill Ireland are encouraging other
children to get sponsored to tell a joke ...
