Article: Fears rapid transit route will stifle Greenway

FEARS that a proposed rapid transit bus corridor in east Belfast will be transformed into "just another road" for vehicles to travel on have been dismissed by the Department for Regional Development.

The seven mile stretch of walkway which runs from the Newtownards Road area to Dundonald along the old Comber railway line is set to be torn up and developed as part of proposals for a Pounds 147m rapid transit bus corridor.

It will be one of three pilot routes spearheaded by the DRD connecting east Belfast, west Belfast and the Titanic Quarter to the city centre.
