With half the day's overs lost due to adverse weather, Sharp won the delayed toss and elected to throw the hosts into bat under the difficult conditions.

The Duchy were forced into a couple of late changes, Gary Thomas came in for wicketkeeper Gavin Edwards, while Newquay's Joe Crane also came in as a late replacement for Falmouth's Antony Angove.
