Article: Indoor Football League thinking big

BLOOMINGTON - A merger that was in the works for two years finally came to fruition nine days ago. Now, it has a name.

The Intense Football League and United Indoor Football, which merged July 23, formally announced their new name at a news conference Friday in Sioux Falls, S.D. The newly formed league will be called the Indoor Football League.

"This is an incredible day for indoor football when two of the strongest leagues in the business are announcing a merger," UIF Commissioner Paul Aaron said. "I couldn't be more excited about it."

Leaders from both leagues gathered to discuss the new entity prior to today's National Indoor Bowl Championship game in Sioux Falls.
