A Post office handed a temporary reprieve was forced to close
yesterday.
Talks between Stroud Town Council and Post Office Ltd over the
future of Uplands Post Office appear to have faltered.
Council leaders are ready to plough in pounds75,000 over three
years to keep Uplands open. But they have been frustrated by Post
Office Ltd's apparent reluctance to reopen it straight away.
"We had hoped the negotiations would have been tied up before
today," said Stroud mayor John Marjoram. "They have not been so we
are still negotiating ."
The branch was one of 26 in the county to be closed by Post
Office Ltd as part of its Network ...
