A Christchurch dairy owner fought off knife-wielding robbers by
shooting them in the face with an air pistol, saying if he had not
acted he would have been killed.
The Chinese owner said he armed himself after Indian liquor store
owner Navtej Singh was murdered by robbers in South Auckland in
June.
His actions have been supported by Asian Anti-crime Group (AAG)
campaigner Peter Low.
The dairy owner, who wished only to be known as Nike, said the
two robbers charged into his store on Wainoni Road about 8.30pm on
Monday.
The men were described as Polynesian, aged in their early 20s or
late teens. They were wearing blue bandanas over their faces, and
one carried a long knife.
