Since May, Gordon Brown's Labour Party has been humiliated by the
outcome of the local elections in England and Wales; the defeat of
Ken Livingstone by the Tory Boris Johnson for the prestigious job
of Mayor of London; the London Borough Elections; the Crewe and
Nantwich and Henley on Thames by-elections and, most recently, the
shambolic loss of Glasgow East to the SNP.
Many readers will have been following the progress of the
region's plan for the future, the Regional Spatial Strategy, through
its different stages.
And now there is talk of Jack Straw becoming a caretaker leader
of his party before the next General Election. The mind boggles!
