A property company which was discharging poor-quality sewage has been ordered to pay pounds3,000 in a case brought by the Environment Agency.

Exeter Magistrates Court heard there had been a long history of problems at the Sidelong Close Treatment Works in Dunchideock, near Exeter. These culminated in the Environment Agency prosecuting the owners, A & H Gadd Limited, in June 2007.

The treatment plant was installed in 1999 to serve a new housing development of 23 properties. The works discharges into a tributary of the River Kenn.
