Article: Fire victim is released from hospital ; Suffered smoke inhalation in blaze at Sandpiper Inn

A weekend fire at the Sandpiper Inn on Nantasket Avenue in Hull termed suspicious by the fire department left tenants temporarily homeless and sent two people to the hospital.

Tenant Mary Orlando was rescued from a third-floor room and suffered smoke inhalation. She was discharged Monday from South Shore Hospital.

Firefighter Anthony Simmons was released from the hospital after treatment for a reported ankle injury.

The fire, under investigation by the Hull Fire Department and the state fire marshal, broke out at the back wall about 2 a.m. Sunday at the inn, an 18-unit licensed lodging house, at 165 Nantasket Ave.
