An arsonist who avoided jail when he caused damage worth
pounds20,000 in a blaze has carried out more crimes.
Richard Meakin, 20, of Leat Street, Tiverton, yesterday pleaded
guilty at Exeter Crown Court to breaching his suspended jail
sentence.
He also admitted a public order charge and two offences of
criminal damage, involving shouting at passers-by and damaging a car
wing mirror after a late-night row with his girlfriend in the town.
Judge Jeremy Griggs said he felt let down by Meakin, having given
him a suspended sentence after a report said he was at low risk of
re-offending.
The judge sentenced him to a nine-month supervision order for
breaching his sentence and a two-year conditional ...
