Article: Phillies snap Bucs' scoreless streak

PHILADELPHIA -- It took just nine pitches from Ian Snell on Saturday for the Philadelphia Phillies to douse the 21-inning scoreless streak by Pirates' pitchers.

The Phillies scored a quick run, snapping their 23-inning scoring drought, and held off the Pirates, 4-2.

"It seems like the first inning has given Ian the most trouble lately," manager John Russell said. "But he settled in and threw real well. He's getting better."

Jimmy Rollins led off the first inning with a triple over the head of right fielder Steve Pearce. Shane Victorino followed with an RBI double that caromed off the right field wall.

With one out, Ryan Howard singled to center. Victorino scored.
