Writethru: Zambia condemns military coup in Mauritania

LUSAKA, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Zambian government condemned the Mauritanian military's move to overthrow the democratically elected government of that country, Foreign Affairs Minister Kabinga Pande said here Friday.

He said that Zambia joins other African countries as well as the international community in disapproving the unconstitutional change of government in Mauritania.

In a press statement, Pande said the overthrow dents the image of the African continent and reverses the gains in the entrenchment of democratic governance in Africa.
