1st Ld-Writethru: Quake of 4.3 strikes southwest China's Sichuan Province

CHENGDU, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- A tremor measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale struck southwest China's Sichuan Province at 9:12 p.m. on Friday.

The Sichuan Provincial Earthquake Administration said the quake occurred between Shifang and Mianzhu, both in Sichuan and among the worst- hit areas in the major May 12 earthquake.

The tremor was felt in other areas such as Wenchuan, Beichuan, Qingchuan and Chengdu.
