Article: Taxi drivers recovering after separate assaults

TWO taxi drivers in the north west are recovering after being assaulted in separate incidents at the weekend.

A Strabane taxi driver was left shocked after being assaulted by two men.

The incident occurred on Sunday as the driver dropped off a fare in the town.

Police are investigating and have appealed for information.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "It is understood the driver dropped off a fare on the Urney Road at approximately 4am when he was forced to pull over by the occupants of a white van at the Carricklee Road junction.

"He was assaulted by two men and sustained injuries to his face and ribs.
