Growth in Hurricane could be stifled unless more recreation
facilities are built, two athletic coaches told city council at a
meeting last week.
"We don't have ball fields for kids to play football, soccer,
softball, baseball that meet the number of children we have," said
Mike Ellis, soccer coach at Hurricane High School. "People notice
that. I hate to think of the alternative."
As an example he noted that the area soccer teams and midget
football teams are being forced to share the field behind Hurricane
Middle School. This is the first year for soccer in the middle
school.
