Article: Yet another stimulus is one too many

The federal stimulus -- that surprise IRS check you got in the
mail this spring -- seems to have helped the economy a little bit.
But enough to justify another one? No.
At some stage, the president and Congress have to figure out
something a little more clever than giving money away.
How are the American people ever supposed to be convinced that
the government has a major deficit problem if, every time there's
trouble, the government responds by passing out money to just about
everybody?
Sen. Barack Obama wants to give people a $1,000 "energy rebate,"
in response to gas prices. He is wrong. Sen. John McCain wants to
spare people from paying gasoline taxes. He is wrong.
