Article: School lunch prices going up 25 cents ; Vote also raises breakfast prices

Rockland has joined surrounding towns by raising school lunch prices.

The Rockland decision, made unanimously by the school committee Monday night, raises lunch prices by a quarter and breakfast prices by 30 cents.

Lunch at the elementary schools will now cost $2; breakfast will cost $1. At the middle and high schools, lunch will cost $2.25 and breakfast $1.

Students eligible for reduced-price meals are not affected.

School Superintendent John Retchless said the increases will help the school department replenish the fund used to pay for cafeteria maintenance and equipment.
