AS NEWS from Georgia and the funeral of another Scottish soldier
remind us that man's inhumanity to man rolls industriously on, Roy
Bailey and David Ferrard, two seasoned and distinctively voiced
singers a generation apart, remind us of the top-down madness of it
all.
The back room at St Bride's encourages a folk-clubby atmosphere
for their songs and readings, setting the tone with Tom Paxton's
hymn-like How Beautiful Upon the Mountain, Ferrard's sweetly
tremulous voice alternating with the slightly gruffer tones of
