Article: Margaret Donnelly to seek recount in Missouri election

An appeal of an election recount in Johnson County, Mo., might not have made a difference in that dispute, but it could guide a recount request in the Democratic primary for attorney general.

Margaret Donnelly announced Friday that she will ask for a recount in the race that she lost Aug. 5 by the slimmest of margins - - two-tenths of 1 percent.

"The law is there for a reason," she said in an interview, referring to the state law that allows a recount if the vote totals differ by less than 1 percent. "It's there to be sure that the voting process is protected and that we're as certain as we can be that every vote is counted."
