The year was 1965, and Jon Galobich was saying he'd sooner quit high school than cut his Beatles-style hair.

He was the drummer in a popular Milwaukee teen band called The Ricochettes. The guys drove past a tavern on Capitol Drive with that name and thought it sounded cool.

"Down to the neck is not reasonable," Custer High School principal and hair police Raymond Michalak told a reporter when the mop top made the news. The crisis was averted when Jon got a minor trim.

Such was the Beatlemania of the time. "We dressed like them. We had the boots, the hair, the whole deal," said lead guitarist Ar Kriegel.
