There was a time when the U.S. women's soccer team arriving in
town would have been big news. But after four early-round games
outside of Beijing, a loss in last year's World Cup and an injury to
their top offensive player, the U.S. women barely drew enough
reporters Sunday to fill three rows of seats in a huge auditorium.
And the questions weren't exactly optimistic either.
How can they cope with the loss of their best scorer, Abby
Wambach?
Have they adjusted to playing without Abby Wambach?
Can they improve enough in the next two games without Abby
Wambach to win a gold medal?
Isn't it true they got lucky by not having to face Germany or
Brazil without Abby Wambach?
