New Orleans went from Olympian to fill-in and Colorado Springs
took immediate advantage en route to a 9-6 victory Thursday at
Security Service Field.
When Zephyrs starter Brandon Knight (5-1, 1.60 ERA) was scratched
due to a probablepromotion to the New York Mets, the Sky Sox
erupted for seven runs in the first two innings.
"They were in a tough spot because their starter got called up,"
said Sky Sox first baseman Joe Koshansky, who had four RBIs -- three
in the first two innings. "That really stretched their bullpen."
Knight, who is scheduled to pitch for the United States in the
Olympics, is the likely replacement Saturday for Pedro Martinez,
whose father died Wednesday.
