Ornithologists have recorded a big drop in the number of the birds at Hinkley Point nature reserve which had been a favourite haunt of the winged musical entertainers.

The reserve and nature trail, maintained by British Energy, runs along the power station's A reactor and the woodland and scrub is a haven for nightingales.

It is believed there were at least seven males in the area last year, but in 2008, there a just two males left. It seems the birds have spread their wings and swapped the Somerset levels for the South ...
