"I think I'm gonna cry," said Bic Duncan, a big grin on her face.
She lifted a fork laden with pasta and seafood into her mouth,
chewed - and smiled.
"Oh, this is so wonderful."
"Do you have any idea how exciting this is?" she asked
rhetorically, as her sisters, Judy Gries and Carol Wilzbacher, ate
similar-sized forks filled with pasta.
The three - and one more sister, Karla Tieken - have celiac
disease, which means their bodies can't digest gluten. And gluten,
which is a protein, is everywhere. It's found in foods such as
bread, crackers and pasta.
