There's no question that binge drinking is a serious problem on campuses across the country.

Presidents of some of the nation's most respected colleges could benefit from a return to statistics class when it comes to the subject of underage drinking.

Obviously, they need a refresher course on the dangers of alcohol use by their students.

The presidents, including Elizabethtown's Ted Long, are part of an effort called the Amethyst Initiative, a nationwide movement to reconsider the legal drinking age of 21.

The presidents, numbering about 100 at this point, ostensibly want to spark a national debate about the drinking age, with no specific recommendations in mind.
