Sir Trevor Brooking has opened the world's first blind football
academy. The former England player and current director of football
development for the FA launched the impressive facility at the
Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) in Hereford.
The day marked not only a celebration of the academy launch, but
also Great Britain's Blind Football team's forthcoming trip to
Beijing to compete in the Paralympics.
The squad, ranked fifth in the world, is based at the college and
has been training its hardest as it aims to follow in the wake a
record-breaking Olympic summer for the nation.
