Article: Pa. faults agency for child's starvation death

WASHINGTON, Pa. (AP) - Before 7-year-old Tausha Lanham died of starvation, a Washington County agency was told the little girl was being abused but failed to investigate the reports adequately, a state report found.

Washington County Children and Youth Services did not spend enough time with Tausha's family or other people who knew the child before dismissing the abuse reports, according to a summary of the state Department of Welfare's investigation into the girl's death in April.

"It makes me mad that they didn't do what they should have, and it took Tausha's death to make them learn there's something wrong with their system," said Rhonda Lanham, Tausha's paternal aunt.
