William C. "Bill" Grote, 80, Bowmansville, died at home Aug. 24, 2008.

Born in Spring Twp., Berks Co., a son of William A. and Helen (Kissling) Grote, he was the husband of Mary Jane (Matz) Grote for 56 years. He attended Shillington H.S., graduated from Wyomissing Poly-Technichol Inst. and was a Navy veteran of WW II. A member of Peace UCC, he was a former member of Allegheny UCC, Alleghenyville, having served on council.

Following years in the building industry, Bill founded his own firm in 1967, Grote Construction, Inc., Bowmansville, which he operated until retiring in 1992. An avid golfer, he enjoyed bowling and tennis and was an amazing craftsman and ...
