Milwaukee School Board member Charlene Hardin should repay the
district for the cost of going to a school safety conference in
Philadelphia, which organizers say she barely attended. Details of
Hardin's trip were reported by Journal Sentinel columnist Daniel
Bice on Monday ( www.jsonline.com/bice).
Peter Pochowski, executive director of the national school safety
group, a former Milwaukee Public Schools director of safety who
knows Hardin, said he did not see her at the conference.
"I run the whole thing, and I had two people working the
registration desk the entire time, and the first time anyone saw her
was around 11 (a.m.) Tuesday when the conference was more than 60%
