A Bristol woman who was imprisoned in China after taking part in a Free Tibet protester is set to be released today.

Amanda McKeown, 41, was one of four activists arrested during the filming of a demonstration at the Beijing Olympics on August 21.

She was thrown into prison where she was expected to be held for up to ten days.

But following the intervention of Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Chinese officials agreed to release the mother of two and she is due to fly home later today.

Her case was raised by Mr Brown when he met Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Friday.
