Two construction contracts for a 2.33-mile section of Corridor H
that will be part of a northern bypass around Elkins were awarded
Thursday by the state.
Completing Corridor H, a planned 132-mile four-lane road from
Weston to the Virginia border, is one of the top priorities of his
administration, Gov. Cecil Underwood has said.
About 100 miles have yet to be built, state Highways Commissioner
Sam Beverage has said.
Corridor H Alternatives, a group opposing construction of the
highway, does not oppose the Elkins bypass.
