Article: A lorry driver who had to be rescued after collapsing in the road has praised paramedics

Lorry driver Stephen Dyson has praised paramedics for rescuing him after he was left paralysed in his cab.

The 38-year-old, from Bishop's Cleeve, was delivering pallets to a customer in Stroud when he felt a tremendous pain in his back.

Struggling back to his lorry, he collapsed and had to crawl across the carriageway.

Stephen managed to pull himself into his cab and phone an ambulance.

"I got half way up and I felt something go," he said. "I crawled back to my lorry. I was in agony and knew I was in trouble."

Police, fire and ambulance crews arrived and sealed off the road as Stephen was stabilised, given pain relief and transferred to the County Air Ambulance.
