HK's new mortgage loans fall 16.6 pct

HONG KONG, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's new mortgage loans drawn down in July rose 3.6 percent to 17.3 billion HK dollars (2. 22 billion U.S. dollars), according to Hong Kong Monetary Authority's latest monthly survey released on Tuesday.

The new loan approvals fell 16.6 percent to 18.4 billion HK dollars (2.36 billion U.S. dollars), the survey said.

Approvals for primary market transactions dropped 32.9 percent, secondary market transactions fell 16.1 percent, and refinancing loans also dipped 10.2 percent. The number of new applications fell ...
