Article: Magners league opt for end-of-season play-offs

The Magners League have brought themselves into line with every major league in world rugby by announcing their intention to introduce play-offs.

The move will generate extra cash and hand the competition a higher profile, as well as giving sides more of an incentive to field their strongest line-ups throughout the season.

Tournament director David Jordan revealed that the format to be brought in for 2009-10 is expected to mirror the system in the Guinness Premiership, with the top four teams entering into a semi- final before a grand final is played to determine the champion side.
